PICU Blues
Unfortunately Tristan is still in the PICU. He taught the Pedicatric nurses that he does not like getting an IV or blood draw. He stopped breathing twice and got oxygen, just when they tried to look for veins. The PICU nurses apparently didn't take that into account when they decided to look for a vein to do a blood draw. Deciding this was the last time that was going to happen he stopped breathing and his heart stopped beating. They were able to do CPR to resucitate him after 2 minutes. That is obviously the worst thing that we have ever dealt with him, which is really difficult for us. Sometimes it feels like we brought a healthy baby into the hospital and now he's a mess. But at least he will never have reflux again or at least an 85% chance. Today was uneventful for Tristan, except for the fact that his heart and breathing rate are low. That's been the case since after surgery and they aren't sure why. So they are going to do a few tests to try to figure it out. Hopefully it's just the anesthetic that hasn't worn off yet. Of course please, please continue the prayers. After the extremely scary night last night we are very concerned about Tristan's health.
