Before Surgery

Here's Tristan this morning before surgery. He finally got an IV in at 2am, unfortunately in his head. We have experienced that before though, so we are ok with it. We actually had to convince them to do it in his head, the nurses weren't very excited about it. But as unbelievable as it is he learned what it meant when we laid him down and people starting pushing on his arms and feet. The first time they tried it yesterday- just looking at his arm-he turned blue from crying. So then at night she also tried to look at his arm and he did the same thing. The doctor didn't believe the nurses that he knew what was coming, but after the second time he was convinced. Smart Kid! So the nurse finally listened to us and went for the head. She got it on the first try with only some dramatic crying. Nothing too serious. He should be off to prep for surgery around 11am, scary. I've never even had surgery!
