We visited San Diego this weekend because the Wild Animal Park had a fun toy set up and we wanted to catch up with Libby and Brian. As you can see Tristan was learning how to drive a car with Michael. We also took him to the horse races which even though he was a little crazy during the down time because of missing his nap he thoroughly enjoyed the horse race part. In the past week he has been turning into the toddler that says hilarious things all the time. We are constantly going, what?! where did you come up with that. He's also really progressing in his pretend play. He has spent most of the day today playing with his cars/trucks and train set. I literally think he's been doing that for at least a couple hours- it's nice to have a semi break sometimes! I still help him with everything, but I can read on the couch and when he asks for help get down and help. We are about to head into a stretch of back to back visitors- so expect some fun stories and pictures from that.
One funny thing from the weekend is Tristan's concept of JJ . Before I was mentioning that I wasn't sure if he thought Libby's tummy was named JJ or if he knew there was a baby in there. Well we've now determined that he thinks Libby's belly button is named JJ. He kept asking to look at JJ all weekend and then pointing to her belly button. Even though he does that I'm pretty sure he does understand that something will becoming out of Libby eventually. He always asks when JJ is coming- as a matter of fact he did inform us in the car that JJ was coming in 5 minutes- thankfully he didn't!
Funny Toddler Update: As we all know Tristan won't eat meat or a million other things. So in the past I may have bribed him to try chicken by giving him animal cookies- that didn't work though. Anyway, tonight I decided to try to feed him a normal dinner again since he actually tried some of our mexican food this weekend. So I put chicken, rice pilaf, polenta and applesauce in front of him. As soon as he saw the chicken he said, "Tristan gets animal cookies if he eats chicken!" We laughed so hard. But in an amazing turn of events he ate all his chicken, plus more and his rice and applesauce. We could only get him to lick one bite of polenta! I'm sure tomorrow he won't eat meat again, but tonight was at least an amazing success.

Now you can see why I love toddlers! There is never a dull moment - and if there is one the next will be completely different! Have fun - even in the times you could cheerfully "womp" him.
Love, Mom and the Dad
Let's see - a vegetarian race car driver who plays the horses in his spare time! The possibilities are endless for this little person. I love the way you are responding to him - love and laughter - a winning combo! FGA
