The weekly update

Tristan crashed at the end of our vacation

So the past week has been good. Yesterday T and I went to the beach with Jack and Stacey. He's really been missing his friends because Kai is in Japan and we were gone for a week. The weather was grey and cold, but the kids had fun. At the very end Tristan went over to say goodbye to Jack and they decided to hug which led to them losing their balance and both falling down in the parking lot. Of course that resulted in a major breakdown for both of them, especially since they were both really tired!

Today I've been cracking up at Tristan because he's really been getting into his pretend play. He's always liked naming all of his toys and animals after people, but today he put a toy dog (named little Cooper) on the edge of the tub to watch for Big Cooper and Leia (aka- my mom and sisters' dogs). I accidentally moved the dog and he had to put it right back- do not move him mom. Unfortunately Big Cooper and Leia won't be coming anytime soon!

We've told him many times that JJ (his cousin) is in Libby's belly and I thought maybe he grasped that concept. Now I'm not certain if he knows JJ is in Libby's belly or thinks Libby's belly is named JJ! We got a gift for JJ today and Tristan kept saying it was for Libby's belly.

School is still going great. It's been fun that he knows who all the kids in class are. He always asks me where one is if they are gone- so now he likes to tell me Alex is on vacation or Paul is sick. And he can point out all of their cars in the parking lot as well as identify their mom's. He could even remember the new girl's name today. I'm savoring this time because I know in a few years I'll be dragging him out of bed to go to school.

This weekend we're off to San Diego and then at the end of next week we are going up to Washington for our last vacation of the summer. Oh- I forgot to mention that I've been teaching Tristan well and in addition to Obama he can identify- Bobby Flay! He often let's me know that we are going to see Bobby Flay this weekend. I hope that one day we do actually see Bobby Flay on a weekend. For now we just have to settle for mom cooking Bobby Flay's food.

Wow! That was a good update! Isn't it cool that Tristan is learning so much, so fast...and, you're right, savor the moment! These are precious years. See you in a few weeks! FGA
