Bread, glorious, Bread!

"No, more pictures mommy, nooooooooo!"
(seriously that's what he said)

So I'm the crazy mom.  Yep, you know the one in the store that yanks their screaming kid behind them while speaking incredibly rude to them.  Yeah- that's me.  So in the past I may have judged said mom, but I realized yesterday that sometimes you just can't help it.  My first mistake was letting Tristan walk (instead of riding in a cart) in Joann Fabric under the condition that he listen to me and not touch anything.  That obviously did not happen- so after cleaning up numerous messes from the floor I took away the stickers that he was going to get for behaving.  Luckily there wasn't even a tantrum about putting the stickers back.  I thought I was home free- but stores are evil and the line at Joann has racks of junk and candy on both sides.  I convinced Tristan to put everything down that he grabbed and then it was my turn and the lady is saying, next please, next please, next please.  And here is Tristan holding a lollipop and I said in a not very nice voice, "Put it down now."  Instead of obeying, he screamed "MINE!" (which made the people behind me laugh)  So there I am dragging him behind me to the register, yanking/prying the lollipop out of his hand and giving it back to the checker while he is bawling his eyes out.  Yep- I'm the crazy mom, that all the other moms are judging : )  Then to get Tristan to be quiet the checker takes out a toy Elmo from my bag and gives it to him.  Which of course immediately makes him stop, but sort of rewards his behavior with a gift.  Not to mention the Elmo was for his Easter basket and I ended up having to give it to him then!

Ok- so today we made homemade bread.  Let me just say it is ridiculously hard to find a recipe for whole wheat bread that doesn't include white flour.  Luckily I did find a great one and today we made the bread.  One of the commenters on the recipe mentioned how sad it was that most kids won't ever smell home baked bread so I'm glad to say that mine has!  One day we will start our food blog and talk more about it, but I am happy to have two lovely loaves of bread that have no preservatives, soy, or words I can't pronounce and that I baked in my own oven.  And yes I thank God that I am blessed enough to be a stay at home mom and have time to do things like bake bread! : )

Krista, you are the best! Tristan doesn't know how lucky he is to have you home! Home made bread - nothing better! Hope Michael appreciated it! And tantrums in a store - never could quite figure out what God had in mind about tantrums. And oh, by the way, you're not a crazy Mom!
Love, FGA

Thanks for the post! The bread sounds great!

There are other Moms like you - I was one of them. Kids need to know that they need to follow your rules. Great job!

Love,
Mom S.
