It's a God Thing

Big news my friends.
This guy is soon going to speak some Japanese!
I've been thinking about why Tristan hadn't gotten into the Spanish Immersion school.
I was doing the typical praying/complaining to God about why it didn't work out.
His regular school is great, but it is not as academically advanced as El Marino.
That had been weighing on me a bit.
Then later that day I got a call that a space had opened in the Japanese Immersion and we could have it.
When we registered there we chose Spanish because it seemed to be the most practical in L.A.
But I asked her if she would be able to put us on the list for Japanese too.
She said no, which I totally get because it's a hassle to have parents on both lists.
But she said she'd unofficially note on the application that we were interested in Japanese.
That way if something did come up she'd know to call us.
And here we are.
Someone called and said their child wouldn't be coming.
She looked through all the applications to see if she had notes on any of them and there was ours.
As usual, God answered a prayer/complaint just not how I was expecting!
We had to talk it over, but ultimately knew El Marino was the best choice for Tristan.
So here we are, soon to start Japanese Immersion!
Good thing we have Emma to help us with homework : )
One of the reasons we were leaning away from Japanese initially is because it's so hard in the beginning.
They have to learn three alphabets!
Tristan already fights me on any kind of new learning, i.e. reading, writing, etc.
I am worried that we will be having a constant struggle with homework and a lot of frustration.
But what a gift to have a second language for the rest of your life.
So let the struggle begin and keep us in your prayers!

Ohmygosh! This is amazing news. God really does work in mysterious ways. It will be so fun to see how it goes for him - and the conversation with Kai will be fun to watch, too. What a great new adventure for your whole family - including all of us in the circle. I hope Tristan will be excited to share with all of us.

Oh my -- what tremendous opportunities can lay ahead of him. It will be so interesting to see the journey through this and what he has to say about it. Fascinating and challenging! Three alphabets? Most of us have enough problems with the one! Love, FA
