Ok- so we ate A LOT on vacation. A LOT. I'll be getting right back to working out this weekend!
Our first stop, on recommendation from a friend in Salt Lake, was J Dawgs in Provo, Utah. Yummy, Yum, Yum. They are simple - bakery made bun, huge locally made hot dog, homemade sweet sauce and a couple toppings. You must go if you're ever in Utah!
We weren't really thinking about taking photos at the food places in Jackson so you have to suffer through stolen web photos! Like most small towns Jackson has some amazing local places. I think we got bagels at Pearl St. Bagels almost every day.
We have no idea why, but a member of the Mexican National Pastry Team opened a chocolate shop there.
Lucky us, it's delicious. He's very subtle with flavors so all of the creative ingredients like basil and goats milk just added to the chocolate, didn't overwhelm.
After the chocolates we returned for the crepes- again amazing. Anything with browned butter just rocks my world!
We love coffee- addicts I tell you. The iced coffee here is life changing. Forget Starbucks I need Jackson roasted beans everyday.
I've been telling our friend Sean in SLC to go to forage for months now, thankfully he hadn't made it yet. We made him go on our way back from vacation.
The menu above is what they served that evening(yes you get everything on it). Rest assured it was small plates, not huge portions. Again- amazing. Sean and I were ready to request seconds- the egg, rabbit sausage, and granola (it was with the dessert) would have been a great breakfast the next morning! As you can see they also served brown butter - it was the ice cream flavor- chefs after my heart. The two executive chefs were just featured on the cover of Food and Wine as Best New Chefs 2011. And yes they were in their kitchen cooking and both made a point to come to every table and serve a dish-LOVE IT!
And then as I mentioned a couple weeks ago- Ludobites!
Not sure if I was more excited for the food or to see Ludo. My husband so kindly let me have the seat facing the kitchen, let's just say I didn't mind the view : ) So anyway, back to the food! We put purple dots next to everything we tried. We had to take photos in super low light on the iphone so they don't really do the food justice, but here are a couple dishes.
Squid, Ash, Chorizo (i.e. prettiest dish)
Lavender Tart
Thank goodness my amazing hubby got us a reservation- love him! Check one more eating experience off our list. Our next plan is to dine at The French Laundry next summer when we're in SF for a friends wedding. Let's hope we're able to pull that off- another once in a lifetime experience!

The cod panna cotta looks really good; how was the poached beef? Don't know that I've ever had poached beef; water/steam is supposed to make beef tough and dry. How did they keep it from not being tough? Rosalee
I think one of our trips north and south will have to be through Utah and Jackson!!!!!!!!!!!! Great recommendations!
Love, Mom and the dad
The panna cotta was great, but Krista and I liked different parts - I wanted more cod, she couldn't get enough of the potatoes. Made it easy to share :) And no clue on the cooking style, but the poached beef was one of my favorite dishes of the night. We used forks to cut it, so it definitely wasn't tough!
