Cooking with a 3 year old means...
..using a butter knife to cut celery
..so you end up tearing it so it looks like this
..peeled carrots end up with half the peel left and half the carrot gone
..celery ends up in the mesh sieve?
..we take lots of iphone breaks
..and does Tristan eat even one bite of the super healthy soup we made- no way! Moms trust me- if your kid doesn't want to eat he won't. It doesn't matter if it's fun or he helped make it or he took those super amazing sweet carrots out of the farm box or the beet is shaped like a star- he won't eat it (silly books and magazine articles that try to say otherwise : ) )
So tonight we had a few firsts in our world. We seriously have a teenager on our hands. In addition to the constant scoffing at me that I mentioned previously, he now....
..says, "I don't like you anymore". Michael forced him to go to the bathroom before bed. I know, horrible right? And soon after we hear Tristan in the bathroom saying, "I don't like you anymore, daddy, I don't like you anymore" Mom of course was not impressed- I can let it roll off my back (especially when it's directed at dad!). Daddy on the other hand was a little hurt : (.
..and hides under the blankets with a flashlight! Partway into our movie tonight we hear him still talking in his bedroom. So Michael goes in there to see what's going on and he has his covers up over his head with his lego guy headlamp on talking to his guys! Michael peeks under the covers and Tristan says, "I have the light on under the blanket and I'm having a conversation." Right, just what you should be doing at 9pm.

Too bad he didn't want to eat the soup, because the pictures are great. Looks like he was really enjoying his role as sous chef. And such a good apron, too. :-)
He's almost 4 -- wheeeee! An advanced 4, on top of it! Have fun! FA
