It's been 13 days on the health cleanse and I couldn't wait any longer to start baking from my new Christmas present!
I've decided to try and bake one dessert and one indulgent meal each week from one of my amazing cookbooks.
The rest of the week will be our normal, usually yummy, healthy meals.
Boy will the guys at Michael's job be excited by the desserts they will get to enjoy!
So you by one Silpat and realize that was dumb, you definitely need two or three.
Guess what I'll be adding to my bday list!
We've been playing with the Fuzzoodles.
Strangest gift ever Aunt Rosalee!
Yet so fascinating to Tristan!
Totally off topic right now but, a little lesson I may have learned today.
Let's say your child is learning to read and he draws an Oops Jar that says something you as the parent don't enjoy, i.e. No Legos Today.
Come on, it's 8am on a day you have absolutely nothing going on, your hubby won't be home until 9pm, and you don't have a car.
Still probably not the best idea to lie to them about what it says.
If you're me you may have said, "It says, Set the table for dinner."
Then if you're Tristan you may have said, "Then why does it say No Legos at the beginning mom?"
Me: "Ummm, I don't know that's weird!"
Tristan: "Yeah, that's silly. It should say Yes, you have to set the table because that's an easy one!"
Our second to last dinner on the cleanse.
Salmon, Kale, Roasted Butternut Squash with Balsamic. Yum.
The cleanse has been fun/hard/yummy/yucky, but totally worth it.
Pros:
It got my mind right back into which foods are healthiest for our family and reminded me of the foods we enjoy but hadn't eaten for awhile.
I got rid of my coffee and sugar addiction!
It introduced me to some awesome new vegetable recipes.
And the weirdest thing- after a year and half or so I've finally eaten enough tofu that I actually like it.
Yeah I like it, not just tolerate it.
Cons:
It was so, so hard to cook that much.
Seriously the leftovers were used for lunches so I had to cook a meal every night with new ingredients.
And breakfasts were all based from recipes as well, no cereal with milk (cheated a bit with that one)!
Also, the dinner recipes were so involved that some days the prep/cooking took me a couple hours.
Tristan was not a fan of that.
But I'm proud that I stuck to it.
Only cheated with a Pitfire Pizza dinner and some cereal breakfasts.
Oh, and one cookie from the above recipe : )

Krista - I laughed out loud about Tristan reading his oops jar duty!!! Sometimes having kids learn so much is not an advantage!!!
Love, Mom
What a great read today -- yay for the Fuzzoodles -- knew Tristan could use his imagination. The oops jar is priceless. Love, FA
